What Drake's import actually wants

The 4562 import is positional: 104 columns in a fixed order, with the header row optional because Drake reads from row 2 onward. Dates go in as MMDDYYYY text. It is the richest contract of any destination we support — separate Federal, State, AMT and Book blocks, §179 split into elected versus allowed, prior bonus with a safe-harbor variant, and a full disposition block for Form 4797. We fill the columns the source schedule actually printed and leave the rest blank, because a blank tells Drake the truth and an invented number doesn't.

The step nobody else does

Before you can download anything, the cost, prior depreciation and current depreciation totals printed on the PDF have to equal the sum of the rows we extracted, per activity and in grand total. If they're off, we show you the difference and point at the rows most likely responsible — usually one line that wrapped across a page break. A basis that's wrong on import is wrong for every year the client stays with you.

About the 'For' and multi-form codes

Drake's KB documents the file format but not the accepted values for the For and MFC columns, which mirror the dropdown on the 4562 screen.
